Multimedia Designers Made Bronze Winner at Crowbar Awards
Updated 2010-09-21
On the prestigious night of The Crowbar Awards 2010 in Singapore, The One Academy was named the Bronze winner for two entries under cinematography and experimental interactive category.

Multimedia Design students Chien Wee Hang, Er Sin Cher, Keivyn Bong Yik Han, Kong Chien Lin, Lim Pei Siu and Phang May Yuin grabbed a Bronze title for their suspense thriller entry 'The Fridge' under cinematography category while graduate Woon Szu Jin took home another Bronze for an experimental interactive entry 'Blue Go Half'.

"It was our first time joining this competition. Other finalists' works were just as impressive but we're happy with what we have achieved," said Wee Hang from the winning team. According to the team, The Fridge is a suspense thriller which unfolds an estranged relationship between the landlord and the tenant. Wee Hang said that winning this award has made them more open-minded and receptive to their environment. "The challenge that we faced mainly in this project is communication. We worked closely together and as days go by, the bond that we formed as a team got us through. "

A fresh graduate from The One Academy is another Bronze individual winner Woon Szu Jin, who received her first solo win in the competition. "I'm very happy even though it is just a Bronze award. Overall, joining this competition has provided me with a very good learning experience!" Szu Jin said excitedly.

Szu Jin's inspiration for her interactive work derived from an online magazine that intrigued her on the subject of water footprint. "I've created 'Blue go Half' to bring about a whole new level of interactive experience in educating the audience about water footprint and reducing water usage in their daily lives."
