Updated 2010-01-11
In the Autodesk Asia Pacific Animation Challenge cum 4-day animation boot camp held in Hong Kong, 11 teams hailed from Asia Pacific countries were chosen as finalists and trained under the mentorship of industry professionals from Lucasfilm Animation Singapore, Imagi Studio, Rhythm & Hues Studio and etc.

Two teams from The One Academy were selected to represent Malaysia to battle it out in the competition, and the young digital animators rise to the peak of success!

Leading the first runner up with award-winning animation My Telatori is team Chin Kuan Win, Julian Chai and Yow Han Chong. "Our film, using tools like Autodesk Maya captures the essence of how kids are running wild with their imagination and enjoying life as it is. We had fun putting together the film, and we have learnt a lot from the mentors at the boot camp," said Kuan Win, leader of the team.

Another team comprised of Loh Yong Kang, Tan Guo Xiang and Teh Beng Eu won third place in the competition with film Nature's Roar. Speaking on behalf of the team, Loh said it was their first time participating in an animation competition, thus felt happy and excited to know that the team’s hard work paid off.

"At the animation camp, there were mentors from well-known studios who gave us important and helpful feedbacks, criticism and guidance on our work. We had a very short time-limit to address the notes the mentors have given us, and change some parts of our submitted animation. We also learned that teamwork and planning is very essential to the successful execution of our work," said Loh.
