For over 30 years, The Kancil Award has been an Oscar equivalent of Malaysia's biggest advertising award, seeking new talents that will bring out the freshest idea in the industry and give recognition to great ideas, people and agencies that strive for creative excellence. This year's theme 'Be Bolder' challenges the industry to continually improve and raise standards that will push the boundaries of creativity.
Addressing the creative challenges today are The One Academy advertising & graphic design students who rise to the occasion with audacious ideas that are louder, better and bolder, subsequently leading them to seizing a collective 7 Kancil Student Awards in total; one Gold, two Silvers, two Bronzes and two Merits.
'Talk of the town' by Chang Se Lin, Cheong Zhi Ling, Chew Yi Von and Low Ween Lim became the Gold winner of the Kancil Awards with their curiosity-aroused promotional campaign for a mock client UOX (University of X).
Two entries submitted by two groups; 'Xscape' by Lim Jun Yuen, Sha Yee Jin, and Chen Xiao Qing and 'Lecturers not qualified' by Chua Vui Chuan, Wang Zu Jian and Ng Wen Yi won a Silver award each.
Two Bronze awards went to group Lim Sheng Feiyan, Wong Xin Ying and Tay Jinn Keong on X-PRESS Yourself and group Sha Yee Jin, Lim Jun Yuen and Chen Xiao Qing on X-Ambush with two more Merits awarded to group Tung Fai Chun, Lee Suet Yee, Wong Quan Guan and Tan Yee Chuan on Guess The X and group Wang Zu Jian, Ng Wen Yi, Chua Vui Chuan on X-Pillow Phase 1 for their commendable effort.
With previous winnings seized over the years, the Kancil Award became an annual celebration for The One Academy students as they commemorate the success of once again conquering Malaysia's biggest advertising awards, a result of The One Academy's constant emphasis in industry-driven learning and 'Masters Train Masters' coaching philosophy.
