Two young aspiring designers from The One Academy took part in the annual Junior Designer Awards (JDA) and snapped two out of the top 3 prizes awarded in the national design competition, co-organised by the academy's interior design department and local interior design publication iN Publisher.

Interior Design student Ong Su Ping walked home with RM3,000 cash prize for winning Gold award. Her design will be made into one of the products to be sold in one of Malaysia's biggest lighting retail centre Alfo lighting. Bronze winner Eunice Ang Chia Sze also won herself a cash prize of RM1,000 and joined her course mate in the league to have her winning design produced for the commercial market.

According to the head of interior design department Eric Leong, the competition aimed to encourage talented new designers to support new creation of product designs and expand the local design industry while strengthening Malaysian-made products and business competitiveness.

JDA unleashed the creative young talents and upcoming designers who are full of energies and desire to venture into the product design industry via the showcase of their fresh and innovative design ideas. The innovative and edgy young designers who stand out in the competition will grow into strong business and possess promising careers.

Through close collaboration with the industry topped with world class coaching of communication design, The One Academy ensure that its students are graduate-ready and outshone others with creativity that leads to greater success.
