CARE Pledges Support for Haiti Earthquake Victims
Updated 2010-03-18
Under The One Academy's CARE campaign, students and staff of the academy have come together to contribute a total of RM6,800 for the victims of the recent Haiti Earthquake.

CARE is a long-term charity project founded by The One Academy in aid of victims of natural disasters or other unfortunate events worldwide. The campaign has previously helped raise funds for the Sichuan and Padang earthquake victims.

In the Haiti fund-raising campaign held in early February, students and staff who made a minimum donation of RM5 were given a complimentary greeting card. The greeting cards were specially designed by The One Academy and feature the storyboard of the short animation, Harmony (or Hexie in Mandarin). The animation was aired on major TV stations during the recent festive season held in an effort to promote peace and harmony among all Malaysians.

"Through this campaign, we hope to impart the value of caring for the less fortunate among the young generation. The funds collected were channeled to UNICEF in support of the relief effort to the victims. We hope that the money contributed by our staff and students will at least help relieve the suffering of the victims," said Tan Chin Wee, Joint General Manager of The One Academy, who passed the cheque to the Marketing & Fundraising Manager of United Nations Children's Fund, Ms Choon Bow Bow.
