Avid photographers nationwide have the chance to prove themselves in the ‘Blossom Arts Festival Malaysia Photography Contest 2016’ when they submit their masterpiece as an entry of the photography competition by 31 March 2016 and stand a chance to win a total worth of over RM13,000 in cash and prizes.

‘The Blossom Arts Festival Malaysia Photography Contest 2016’ is organised by the Malaysian Chinese Culture & Arts Consultative Council (MCCA) and co-organised by Selangor & Kuala Lumpur Photographic Society. This photography competition is held in conjunction with the ‘Blossom Arts Festival’ which will be held in June whereby The One Academy is appointed as its official designer. This festival is also made possible thanks to its main sponsor, the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA).

Also in conjunction with the launch of this competition is a special photography exhibition by former Deputy Education Minister Dato’ Hon Choon Kim, an enthusiastic professional landscape photographer who was awarded the Honorary Fellowship by the Photography Society of Malaysia and the Photography Society of Negeri Sembilan.

The photography exhibition, entitled ‘Searching for Light’, is named after his published photography book depicting stunning picturesque photographs taken during his trips to China including famous locations such as Sichuan, Yunnan, Guangzhou and Fujian. It will be held at Hall 1 & 2, Block M, The One Academy from 20 – 22 January where those interested to participate in the photography competition have a reference point to what MCCA is looking for.

The theme of the contest, which is announced today, is ‘Moderation and Harmony’ where photographers have the opportunity to promote moderation and harmony through their artful phototaking skills.

“The reason why we organise this photography contest is to provide a platform as a practical means to support and promote the development of culture and arts in Malaysia,” said a spokesperson from MCCA.

Also present during the launch are Selangor & Kuala Lumpur Photographic Society President Mr. Ng Wei Lee and MCA Vice President & Committee Chairman of Malaysian Chinese Culture and Arts Consultative Council Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun.

“We are proud to be appointed as the official designer for the Blossom Art Festival Malaysia and to be part of this meaningful event where MCCA supports the creative industry. As one of the most prominent design schools in the world, we want to be part of significant initiatives that support the art and culture industry in any way as we believe in making the world a much more beautiful place through our practices,” said The One Academy Founder and Principal Tatsun Hoi.
