The One Academy Interior Design students strike again at the Malaysia Institute Designers (MIID) 7Belas RE-Invent! During the event, creative students from different educational institutions gathered together to participate alongside other colleges in a friendly competition. With a theme that is parallel to aspiring designers’ creative goals, the RE-Invent aim to bring students together to put their creative thinking hats start creating!
Finally a place for The One Academy’s young interior designers to showcase their talent with full force! A range of exciting creative-related activities were organized for the students; there were 4 categories of activities for students to participate as a team, and some individually. The categories are; Re-Design which require students to submit design works of residential, commercial, institutional and hospitality; Re-Animate a platform for students to showcase abilities in video designing, short movie directing, bunting designing and producing a commercial break segment; followed by Re-Act, a miscellaneous participation featuring amazing races, Nippon paint competition, performances, photography and sketching, and finally Re-Build, a segment on installation design, lighting design, furniture design and fashion design.
The objective of Re-Invent is to reignite the passion for creativity and design among the students. With that, every year, MIID organizes it with a twist by coming up various themes for each year, and to have activities that will challenge the participants to think outside the box. The box, being a metaphor, requires students to re-invent the concept using their creative thinking abilities. Students, then would expand their consciousness by using basic foundation as the anchor to re-invent the concept, to what it seems just a box.
The One Academy students that had a learning experience from the event are, Theo Loi Fui Teng who emerged as Winner of MIID 7Belas Students Saturday Nippon Paint Competition category, while First Prize of MIID 7Belas Students Saturday Lighting Design category winners are Kok Zhi Ming and Kan Jo-Vern. On the other hand, the First Prize of MIID 7Bleas Students Saturday Video Design category was taken home by Lee Jenn Yuh, Kang Jo-Vern, Luah Chiat Ming, Goh Suan Wei, Kok Zhi Ming and Ong Zhen Huan and finally the Second Prize of MIID 7Belas Students Saturday Short Movie Design category was bagged by Mike Chia, Low Lee Shin, Josephine Yee Wan Tong, Yap Kar Seng and Wong Hung Soon.
Similar to The One Academy’s out-of-the-classroom learning experience, the platform provided by Re-invent allow students to exchange information and ideas among the circle of young interior designers while having the opportunity to network. The event also nurtures creativity through its transformational activities, motivating students to create new interior design ideas. Thumbs up for our Interior Design students!
