Andrew Gordon is the Animation Director of Pixar Animation Studios, whose portfolio included A Bug's Life, The Incredibels & Ratatouille etc. He is also famous for animating the characters such as Mike Wazowki in Monsters, Inc., Gill in Finding Nemo and Edna Mode in The Incredibles as well as Linguini in Ratatoille.
Gordon has led many of Pixar's animated films, including Oscar and Annie Awards nominated short film 'Presto' as Animation Supervisor. In the masterclass, he will explore the topics of Pose Design, Locomotion, Acting & Gestures, Planning and Facial Animation. There will also be case studies focusing on the Animation workflow of Pixar animated feature films.
With more than 20 years of experience in the entertainment industry, Matthew Luhn is the Head of Story of Pixar Animation Studios, and has involved in the production of Monsters Inc., Cars and Toy Story 3 etc.
His talk will mainly focus on topics such as Storyboarding, 3-Act Story Structure, Sequence Boards & Character Development, Composing Your Storyboards, as well as Line & Value.
The group discussion and case studies for this session will centre on the Storyboarding workflow, with Pixar animated films showcased as examples.
Ricky Nierva is the Art Director and Lead if Production Design of Pixar Animation Studios. His signature animations involved Finding Nemo, which earned him Annie Awards, as well as Oscar-winning Up and Annie Award-winning Monsters University.
Nierva will elaborate on the topics of Character Design, Story is King, Character Design Process, Simplicity, Caricature and Making mistakes. To deepen participants' understanding of the topics, a discussion and critique session on Character Design will be held too.
