The One Academy Strikes with Silver, Double Bronzes and Four Merits in Kancil Awards 2012

ONCE AGAIN another Success! The One Academy students GRABBED Silver, Double Bronzes and Four Merits of the Student Kancil Awards!

It is now SIX YEARS of consecutive winnings and The One Academy students won a whopping total of 41 awards. Once again, The One Academy students have seized the throne at the biggest Kancil Awards 2012 competition.

This time around, The One Academy students who have risen to the occasion are both Degree and Diploma students, with backgrounds in multimedia design and advertising & graphic design.

They have transformed their bold ideas into award winning campaigns, leading them to seize a collective total of 7 Student Kancil Awards for the 2012 entry. Their accolades consist of Silver, 2 Bronzes and 4 Merits. This year, their brilliant work has attracted the renowned panel of judges from prominent advertising agencies such as Ogilvy & Mather, Grey Group KL, Leo Burnett, McCann Worldwide, DRAFTFCB, Y&R, TBWA Kuala Lumpur, to name a few.

This prestigious opportunity serves as a creative springboard to jumpstart students’ career objective in the art & design field- a field that often sought after young & growing designers with the ability to deliver fresh and original ideas. This break is an opening for students at The One Academy Bandar Sunway and Penang to participate in the competition based on the mock client DiGi.

Listing out the proud winners of the Student Kancil Awards 2012, the recipients from both academies of Bandar Sunway and Penang are:

The One Academy Graphic Design Degree students, Thoo Sueen, Liew Ee Wern, Lau Chung Yuen and Ng Shuang Chin became the Silver winner of the entry entitled ‘The Dream Plan’- a profound concept that delivers mind-provoking thoughts.

The Bronze winners was taken home by The One Academy Multimedia Design Diploma students Ho Hween Woon and Siew Li Yee- another philosophical entry titled ‘Oh Ain’t it Easy?’ , followed by Jessie Ling Sing Hui, Liow Boon Yee and Chow Jie Hui of Advertising & Graphic Design Diploma who shared the titleship for their innovative idea work entitled ‘Internet For Everyone, Everywhere’.

The Bandar Sunway winners also received Merits; also from Graphic Design Degree, students Lai Siang Yeow, Teoh Yong Shee, Gan Khai Xuan and Loo Jye Miin accepted the award for their concept named ‘DiGi: Brings Back Retro’- a trendy yet vintage idea. The other recipients are The One Academy Advertising & Graphic Design Diploma students Cheong Hui Ni, Lee Yet Goh, Kong Yen Jean and Benny who bagged Merit for their work entitled ‘Internet and More for All (Temple)’.

The winnings do not end here, as The One Academy Penang students too shared the awarding experience too for their work. The One Academy Penang students are known for their intricate end result combined with their aesthetic creative mindset that has produced numerous works, impressing the public and industry professionals. The same pearl of the orient group of students have submitted two entries with different concept and received Merits for both submissions!

The students from The One Academy Advertising & Graphic Design diploma course are; Kwok Jin Xin, Chan Kah May and Ong Lyn-Hui who submitted ‘DiGi Always with You’ as their first entry and the other entitled ‘Cut Queue with DiGi/Hypermarket Fight’. Both received Merits.

This is a definite proven-result of The One Academy’s constant emphasis in industry-driven learning approach, which has successfully educated students to become high-flying achievers. These students have uphold the ‘Masters Train Masters’ teaching methodology through constant coaching by creative professionals in the industry. Students have not only gained learning opportunity from these experts, but have incorporated the teachings into their works, thus producing a World Class Result. Bravo!
