Over 300 participants were gathered not only from Jakarta but also from Bandung, Bogor and Tangerang; the event received great respond as Indonesian youths came together to challenge creatively. The competition was held at Hotel Harris Kelapa Gading, Jakarta on the 13th August 2011 whereby contestants arrived at 10am in the morning filled with anticipation as they look forward to the challenge to win the fantastic cash & prizes worth Rp 60.000.000 offered by The One Academy.
Two hours before the registration was open, contestants of age 16 to 20 years old already crowded to register themselves for the competition. Many were excited while other contestants had tearful moments due to seat limitations. Nonetheless, the organisers were considerate while they find ways to accommodate them. There was even a 'waiting list' arranged for the contestants while they didn't even mind being relocated to a different seating arrangement to be part of the participation. Contestants were geared up to join and fulfill their purpose in the competition which is to WIN! Fortunately, organizers managed to allocate all 300 contestants to be seated as well as close to 100 names from the 'waiting list'.
During the on-the-spot art competition, contestants equipped themselves with assorted art materials required. Once the challenge kicked start, the youths immediately begin with their drawings planned according to the theme, 'My Fantasy World' . The competition duration was 3 hours.
With the great turn out, Tan Chin Wee, Joint General Manager of The One Academy shared, "We are very glad how this event has turned out and has inspired and influenced an increasing number of not just the participating youths but also their families and friends. Even the school counsellors and art teachers too! It is my pleasure to give TWO thumbs-up to all the participants for their initiative, their drive and eagerness in unleashing their creativity and to be part of the creative industry in future."
Finally recognizing the talented youths, The One Academy was proud to present the prizes during prize presentation. It was quite a tough decision for the professional judges to decide the TOP 10 WINNERS as there were many good quality artworks by the contestants. Nonetheless, the outstanding winners of the Jakarta TOP 10 Creative Art & Design Award 2011 were announced:
The FIRST PRIZE of the Best of the Best-prize was seized by talented youth, Mico Prasetya age 18 years old from SMA BPK Penabur, Kelapa Gading Permai, Jakarta. He won a whopping cash of Rp 30.000.000, an Apple iPad 2, Trophy and Certificate of Excellence while the winner's school received a Certificate of Appreciation and cash prize of Rp 8.000.000 for his art teacher.
Second prize went to Navio Tantra age 17 from SMA Kolese Kanisius who won an Apple iPad 2, a trophy and Certificate of Excellence while the third prize was grabbed by Margareth age 16 years old from SMAK 6 Penabur, who received an Apple iPod, a trophy and a Certificate of Excellence too. There were SEVEN winners who won the Young Achiever Awards which are, Rizky Hapsari Soebijanto, 17 years old from SMA Labschool Jakarta, Natasha Cindy, 18 years old from SMAK Sand Timur Tomang, Jakarta Barat, Rethanisa Alveriana, 17 years old from SMAN 8 Jakarta, Kevin Sidharta, 18 years old from SMA Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, Jakarta, Airin Budiman, 16 years old from ST Ursula Jakarta, Diana Silvana Purwita, 16 years old from SMA Santa Ursula, Jakarta Pusat and Eilene Cherie Witarsah, 16 years old from SMA Pahao, Tangerang. The Young Achievers received a CANON Digital Camera and a Certificate of Excellence. In conjunction of the event, all registered-participants received a rebate of RP 3.000.000 for their enrollment at The One Academy (Bandar Sunway) Malaysia.
Those attended the sharing session entitled 'Discover the World of Creativity in Art & Design' gained an insightful knowledge and understanding in depth about the career field of the art & design industry. Contestants and guests were awed by the inspiring compilation of winning 3D Animation showreel by The One Academy students. Last but not least, contestants, friends, families, relatives, school counsellors and art teachers were impressed and enjoyed every bit of the event and happenings such as the exhibition, presentation and artworks by The One Academy students & graduates.
