Updated 2014-06-18
The One Academy students once again creating several marvellous artworks, to the astonishment of all the visitors, domestic and international alike.

Designers will not shy away from embracing challenges, even if the timeframe given is short, because the ultimate satisfaction is just too irresistable! In the recent Malaysia International Shoe Festival 2014, The One Academy students once again creating several marvellous artworks, to the astonishment of all the visitors, domestic and international alike.

The soft launch was held in Kenanga Wholesale City, a trendy fashion mall, with a Giant Shoe Box as the main attraction. The One Academy students contributed primarily the 3D front visual of Giant Shoe Box, featuring a stylish shoe that looked like pointing out from the box. With guidance from lecturer Foo Chow Ping, six first year students, two each from Advertising & Graphic Design, Illustration and Digital Animation majors were involved. Each of them has produced several ideas, and had to repeatly refined the visual within the brief fortnight.

Thrilled by the protruding 3D image, visitors including secretary general of Ministry of Tourism and Culture Datuk Dr. Ong Hong Peng, distinguished shoe designer Datuk Jimmy Choo and Tony Ting, President of Malaysian Footwear Manufacturers Association posed beside it for photo shooting.

For the actual launching in PWTC, there was an Shoescape exhibition showcasing various creative artworks made of shoe parts and elements. Six groups of The One Academy students, comprised of three members each, contributed six funky shoe sculptures. With shoes offered by sponsors such as XES, US Polo and Angela Moda, the students had to analyse ways to break the shoes into pieces and creatively use different parts to form sculptures of models or animals adorned with futuristic, natural, elegant and adorable fashions.

Besides, a competition of shoe boxes was also held, where students flaunted their creativity in producing numerous charming designs that captured the imagination of many. In completing these projects, the students learned extra knowledge and skills earlier than their peers. It has exemplified the importance of the practical coaching approach upheld by The One Academy.

Real industry experience such as this helps build confidence within students, that they are on par with the creative professionals in accomplishing challenging tasks. This evidently proves that under The One Academy’s “Masters Train Masters” philosophy, the industry-driven syllabus has empowered students to master numerous practical skills required to succeed in the international creative arena!
